Mankato Area Foundation announced their gift today of a skating rink to the City of Mankato.  The rink will be an addition to Sibley Park and will be made of a synthetic material allowing it to be operational during our winter months- regardless of the weather and varying temperatures. 6.4.13 - MUSEUM DONATION HOPED BY DOTSONS TO BE A CATALYST FOR MORE COMMUNITY GIVING

Mankato — Talk about momentum. The Southern Minnesota Children's Museum moved another giant step forward in its fundraising goal Tuesday when Denny and Carole Dotson announced a gift of a half-million dollars and an antique tractor to the museum's "Back 40" exhibit. 6.4.13 - CHILDREN'S MUSEUM OF SOUTHERN MINNESOTA RECEIVES LARGEST GIFT IN FOUNDATION'S HISTORY
THROUGH THE DOTSON FAMILY FUND

 

On June 4, 2013,  the Mankato Area Foundation made an historical gift to the Children's Museum of Southern Minnesota through the Dotson Family Fund. The $500,000 gift is the largest to date in the foundations near 40-year existence and ensures that the exhibit space designated as the “Back 40” will be a part of the long-term vision of the museum. The “Back 40” will represent space for unstructured play with the look and feel of an overgrown field filled with tree stumps, knolls to climb and openness to spark imaginations.View Gift Presentation Video. 11.23.12 - Kiwanis Holiday Lights Display Delights Onlookers

Mankato — Let the record show that the switch for the first Kiwanis Holiday Lights in Sibley Park display was thrown at 6:47 p.m. Friday. The 1 million LED lights strung throughout the park's Great Lawn area elicited a cheer from thousands of onlookers in the 25-degree night. Read Full Story

 

11.23.12 - Kiwanis Holiday Lights Display Transforms Sibly Park

MANKATO - Santa doing the honors flipping on the lights around 6:30 Friday night, turning Sibley Park in Mankato into a winter wonderland for the opening ceremonies of the Kiwanis Holiday Lights display. After weeks of setup, and months of planning, volunteers created a one million–light display in the park. The Mankato Area Foundation (MAF) has recently awarded over $25,000 in local grants and scholarships to organizations during its recent funding cycle. Semi-annually, MAF distributes grants from the Mankato Area Community Fund and other donor advised and designated funds in response to applications based on five core areas of funding which include education, culture, recreation, aesthetics and civics.
